Most development in Skyrattler took place between the 1970s and 1980s, with an emphasis on multi-family homes. Residential development was largely complete by the 1990s, with low-rise apartment-style condos accounting for nearly half of all real estate opportunities.

Other high and medium-density style units in Skyrattler also consist of townhomes and carriage-style bungalows. Two-bedroom, one-bathroom models are most common, featuring a wealth of upgrades spanning fully renovated bathrooms and kitchens to new flooring and energy-efficient appliances. Skyrattler condos may start as low as $150,000 for a 1,000-square-foot unit and range upwards of $180,000 for a larger, three-bedroom property.

Single-family development in Skyrattler began during the 1980s and now accounts for roughly 20% of all home styles in the community. These include four-bedroom, four-bathroom bungalows, two-storey models and more. There are also several new construction homes cropping up in Skyrattler. Skyrattler is an oddly shaped neighbourhood bounded by the Blackmud Creek Ravine to the west and south, 23rd Ave to the north and 111th Street to the east. Overall, the community’s ravine-side location strikes the perfect balance between peaceful atmosphere and easy accessibility. 23rd Ave intersects with Calgary Trail and Gateway Boulevard, providing a convenient commute to downtown Edmonton and the Edmonton International Airport. Adjoining 111th Street also connects directly to Whitemud Drive and the South Anthony Henday.

Though Skyrattler is considered mostly car-dependent (most errands require a car), the neighbourhood boasts a good transit score with several nearby public transportation options – including the Century Park Transit Centre.

Did you know? Edmonton’s Capital LRT line expansion will see LRT service extended from Century Park to Desrochers. The project will also include a stop in Skyrattler, affording residents convenient LRT access to the greater City of Edmonton.
