Located in West Edmonton, Oleskiw is one of the city’s largest residential neighbourhoods. This established community is also home to Alberta’s oldest private golf club, offering some of the most breathtaking views in the capital region.

Community Profile 

Oleskiw is an older neighbourhood, defined by mature trees and quiet, curvilinear streets and crescents. Development began in the 1970s, though most of the area’s single-family homes were built during the 1980s. All remaining residences were constructed between 1990 and 2000, when a small number of multi-family dwellings cropped up, particularly towards the community’s centre.

Oleskiw was first named “Wolf Willow Farms” in recognition of the neighbouring ravine. It was renamed in 1972 in honour of Dr. Joseph Oleskiw, who promoted Ukrainian immigration to Edmonton and the Canadian prairies. Many local streets in the community also start with “W,” and are named after notable First Nations and immigrant families, including Wakina Drive, Wanyandi Road, Waygood and Wilken Road.

Prices may start at around $320,000 for a 1,500 square-foot bungalow and range upwards of $1M + for a two-story home overlooking the golf course, river valley or Wolf Willow Ravine.
