Community Spotlight: Gold Bar in Southeast Edmonton Featured Image

Located in Southeast Edmonton, Gold Bar is nothing short of an outdoor lover’s delight. An established neighbourhood characterized by quiet streets, mature trees, and open green spaces, this one-of-a-kind community sits within easy walking distance of Southeast Edmonton’s most beautiful outdoor amenities, such as the North Saskatchewan River Valley and Gold Bar Ravine.

In addition to picturesque ravine views and endless amounts of forested green space, the community is also highly celebrated for its family-friendly homes and proximity to amenities – including those of downtown Edmonton.

Did you know? Gold Bar was initially referred to as “Gold Bar Farm,” in reference to a large farm that once occupied the area in 1913. The name may also, in part, refer to the many gold prospectors established along the North Saskatchewan River Valley during the late 1800s.

Three- and four-bedroom single-family homes reign supreme in Gold Bar, contributing to much of the neighbourhood’s overall character. While several properties were built before the end of WWII, residential development was most prominent during the 1950s and 1960s, when builders emphasized building spacious, family-oriented bungalows on large lots.

Ripe with charm, many of the area’s older single-family homes come outfitted with modern upgrades, such as energy-efficient appliances and systems, hardwood flooring, quartz countertops, master ensuites, fully finished basements and more.

A small number of townhomes can also be found in Gold Bar (particularly in the community’s south end), accounting for roughly 20% of all home styles in the area. As such, Gold Bar is not just the ideal community for growing families but also for first-time buyers, downsizers and working professionals looking to settle near city centre.
