Did you know? The name Idylwylde is thought to allude to the word “Idyll,” a Welsh term referring to a short poem describing a picturesque scene or incident in the country.
Idylwylde Real Estate and Homes For Sale
Though Idylwylde was established in the early 1900s, residential development didn’t begin until the end of WWII. As a result, nearly half of all homes in the area were built between the early 1950s and 60s, with an emphasis on bungalows and one and a half storey models. Though infill homes are becoming increasingly popular due to the community’s fantastic location, many of these older homes are available on the Edmonton market today. Perfect for families, most single-family homes in Idylwylde feature an average of three bedrooms and bathrooms, modern upgrades and plenty of yard space.

While single-family homes account for over half of all residences in Idylwylde, the area also offers a large number of apartment-style condos. These consist mainly of low-rise units with two bedrooms and bathrooms, ranging from the low 100s to early 200s. Affordable and located within close proximity to Whyte Ave, downtown Edmonton and the University of Alberta, Idylwylde is the ideal neighbourhood for first-time buyers.
