Edmonton Community Spotlight: Oxford in Northwest Edmonton Featured Image

Oxford is a more recent addition to Northwest Edmonton, located in the highly desirable Palisades district. Developed with families in mind, this all-in-one neighbourhood strikes the perfect balance between beautiful family homes, convenient local amenities and gorgeous natural green spaces.

Did you know? Once home to the Hudson’s Bay Company, all neighbourhoods in the Palisades take their name from the company’s many fur-trading posts and forts. In this case, Oxford is derived from “Oxford House,” a post in southwest Manitoba.

A Great Place for a Family-Friendly Home

Nearly all properties for sale in Oxford are single-family homes located in quiet subdivisions. As such, the neighbourhood is extremely popular among families looking for room to grow in an amenity-friendly community.

As a relatively new neighbourhood, development in Oxford didn’t begin until the late 1980s, with roughly two-thirds of its growth completed by the year 2000. New home construction has continued over the years, resulting in a broad mix of home styles, ranging in age, size and price point. These include everything from updated bi-level homes built in the 1990s to modern, two-story properties constructed within the last few years.

Most homes in the area feature three to four bedrooms and bathrooms, on average, with prices ranging from the low 400s to the high 500s.

While single-family homes reign supreme in Oxford, there are a small number of low-maintenance apartment-style condos and duplexes in the neighbourhood. Condo prices in Oxford start in the low 200s and upwards.

Average Listing Price: $462,000
