Situated less than 10-minutes from the city’s vibrant downtown core, Virginia Park remains one of Edmonton’s oldest and most celebrated communities. Virginia Park Home Styles 

Although first established in the early 1900s, the majority of residential development didn’t occur until after the Second World War. Roughly 75% of the original structures in the neighbourhood were built before 1950, with infill becoming progressively popular over the years. 

Virginia Park consists predominantly of post-WWII single-family homes on large lots and apartment-style condos. While many of the single-family homes available in the community are older, they come equipped with the one-of-kind character only a mature community can provide – many having been retrofitted and renovated to feature the latest upgrades. Those preferring a more contemporary property are also sure to find what they’re looking for in this eclectic neighbourhood as, due to its fantastic location, detached infill homes are in increasingly high demand. 

As we mentioned above, apartment-style condos are also abundant in Virginia Park. Virginia Park is home to a countless array of convenient amenities, many of which are easily accessible on foot or within a very short driving distance. A small commercial district featuring grocers, a health centre, and various other services can be found directly west of the neighbourhood. Additional shops and services (including coffee shops, banking institutions, restaurants and more) are also easily accessible along nearby 118th Ave.

Residents also enjoy having convenient access to Kingsway Mall and Edmonton City Centre – two major independent shopping malls featuring 150+ stores and services and situated no more than a 10-minute drive away.

Here too, Rat Creek and Kinnaird Park are also tucked away to the neighbourhood’s immediate south, providing residents ample opportunity to get outside and enjoy a morning jog, evening stroll, family picnic and much more.

Last but certainly not least, the ultra-popular Highlands Golf Club sits just a 2-minute drive away to the east in the adjoining Highlands River Valley.

Virginia Park is bordered by 78th Street to the west, Borden Park Road to the north, 73rd Street/Wayne Gretzky Drive to the east and Ada Boulevard to the south. Residents looking for a quiet, yet accessible community will enjoy having the best of both worlds in Virginia Park. Although semi-isolated, the area remains bisected by 112th Ave, which provides convenient access to Edmonton’s downtown core.

Those requiring access to the greater City of Edmonton will also enjoy living in such close proximity to Wayne Gretzky Drive, which offers a streamlined commute to both the Yellowhead Trail and southeast Edmonton. The Capital LRT line runs directly to the neighbourhood’s east, with the Stadium LRT Park and Ride Station located 3-minutes away. 

Did you know? Virginia Park was once part of Edmonton’s historic Highlands streetcar network, which operated from 1912 until 1945.
