Edmonton Community Spotlight: Greenfield
October 21, 2020 7:00 amGreenfield is a family-friendly community bounded by 40th Avenue to the north, 111th Street to the east, 34th Avenue to the south and 119th Street to the west. Located in the southwest subdivision of Kaskitayo, this all-in-one neighbourhood first took root in the early 1960s and continues to be a popular choice among home buyers today.
Did you know? Greenfield was named after Herbert Greenfield, Alberta’s fourth Premier (1921-1925).
Greenfield Homes
Greenfield is known for its quiet cul-de-sacs and single-family homes. Most properties in the area are considered above average in size (but not in price), featuring ample square footage and large lots. And although most homes in the neighbourhood were built over fifty years ago, many have been renovated to include the latest features and upgrades. Best of all, real estate in Greenfield remains extremely affordable, with an average listing price of just $454,000.
Did you know? Greenfield’s development resulted from a vast increase in Edmonton’s population – due to both the baby boom that followed WWII and the discovery of several oil reserves near the city.
Accessible Shops and Services
Thanks to its ultra-convenient location, residents of the Greenfield neighbourhood enjoy having access to some of the best shops and services southwest Edmonton has to offer. In addition to local Petrolia Mall (which features a local grocery store, childcare services and a medical clinic), the community sits just a few minutes south of Southgate Mall (164+ stores and services). The major box store retailers, restaurants, services and entertainment venues of South Edmonton Common also sit a short drive to the east.
Did you know? Spread over 320 acres, South Edmonton Common is one of the largest open-air retail developments in North America.
Great Schools
Greenfield parents also appreciate having two local school and park sites right within their community. A variety of other schools and educational options can also be found nearby in the surrounding neighbourhoods.

Last but certainly not least, Greenfield is a commuter’s dream. For starters, Whitemud Drive sits immediately to the neighbourhood’s north, providing streamlined access to both the east and west Edmonton. Calgary Trail and Gateway Boulevard also run north to south, both convenient thoroughfares for residents working downtown or south of the city along the QE2.
