Edmonton Community Spotlight: Crestwood
May 20, 2020 7:00 amCrestwood is an established Edmonton neighbourhood known for its mature trees, diverse real estate options and scenic river valley views (not to mention, Edmonton’s celebrated Candy Cane Lane). Located in the city’s central west, this highly coveted area features large lots, ample amenities and makes an ideal choice for families looking for a quiet, friendly place to call home.
Family-Friendly Home Styles
While there are some apartment-style and semi-detached units to choose from, real estate in the area consists primarily of detached, single-family homes (with prices typically starting in the low 500’s). Having been established in the early 1950s Crestwood is a blend of both older, well-kept character homes (many featuring modern upgrades) and attractive new (luxury) infill. Due to its age, the neighbourhood also includes previously occupied vacant lots for purchase – perfect for anyone looking to build their dream home in one of Edmonton’s most popular communities.
Shopping and Services
Crestwood is anything but short on great amenities. Just moments’ drive to the west sits a wealth of shops, services (doctors, dentists, medical centres, etc.), entertainment venues and restaurants courtesy of nearby West Edmonton Mall, Mayfield Common, Terra Losa Shopping Center, Westmount Shopping Centre and Oliver Square. The Misericordia Community Hospital also sits ten minutes away to the neighbourhood’s southwest.
Educational Opportunities
Crestwood families have a wide range of educational opportunities to choose from. Locally, the community is home to both a public (K-9) and Catholic (K-6) school, with several other options available in the surrounding areas.

Convenient Commute
Thanks to the neighbourhood’s agreeable location, Crestwood residents can look forward to a streamlined commute to just about anywhere. Bounded by 149th Street to the west, Stony Plain Road to the north and 95th Ave to the south, the neighbourhood is highly accessible – providing swift access to the downtown core, Whitemud Drive, west Anthony Henday, Yellowhead Trail and more.
Parks and Recreation
Crestwood is flanked by the North Saskatchewan River Valley, thereby providing access to some of the best outdoor spaces Edmonton has to offer. For instance, MacKinnon Ravine Park, which surrounds the community both to the north and east, offers outdoor enthusiasts an array of treelined trails, picnic areas and bike paths. Venturing across the river towards the downtown core, residents can also take advantage of Hawrelak Park, Emily Murphy Park and the Royal Mayfair Golf Club.
The Crestwood Community League (thought to be the oldest community league in Edmonton) also plays an integral role in providing locals with a variety of sports and recreation programs, geared towards members of all ages.
