Fun Things That You Can Do at Home with Your Family
March 25, 2020 7:00 amLooking for a few fun family activities to do at home (that go beyond regular board game night)? We have some suggestions:
1. Plan a Scavenger Hunt
Have some scavenger-hunt fun by hiding items in and around your home (outside in your yard if possible). Give each member a personalized list of things to find and offer prizes for the winner.

2. Cultural Cuisine
A culinary experience and learning opportunity rolled into one! Choose a country you’d like to know more about as a family and prepare an authentic meal that might be served there. For instance, if you chose England, you may opt to make Fish and Chips, Shepherd’s Pie and Bread and Butter Pudding. Serve a proper tea service and ask each family member to share one England-related fact they learned.
3. Build THE BEST Blanket Fort
Repeat, not just any blanket fort, the BEST blanket fort. While this 5-Step Tutorial on Making an Epic Blanket Fort may require a few extra provisions (i.e. Nerf guns, some Christmas lights and a few tasty treats), the finished product will be well worth the effort.
4. Get Into Costume
Pull out your old Halloween costumes or raid the closets for fun outfits in which you can dress up for a day. Choose a family theme by picking your favourite superheroes, Disney or cartoon characters or dress up individually and have a makeshift at-home Halloween party.
Hint: Have fun showing off your costumes by heading out for a family walk
5. Make a Few Home Movies
Now that you’re in disguise (see above), why not make your very own family movie? Have fun coming up with a storyline and creating your own characters or re-enact your favourite family film. In the evening, plan a movie premier and watch your homemade blockbusters over a bowl of popcorn.
6. Catch Up on the Classics
Whether it’s books or movies, consider introducing your children to a few classic childhood favourites. Here are a few suggestions to help get you started:

Consider making a secret tunnel by taping a few large boxes end to end or build a personalized playhouse for dolls, stuffed animals and other toys. 8. The Scientific Method
There are plenty of super-simple science experiments you can conduct at home that are both fun and fascinating. Better yet, many science experiments for kids can be created from items you already have on hand.
9. Get Moving
Indoors doesn’t have to mean inactive. Learn a few new dance moves with a playlist full of family favourites, set up a maze or obstacle course or simply be silly by jumping on the bed and having a pillow fight.
