Curated. Holiday Market YEG
Curated’s Holiday Market is quickly becoming one of Edmonton’s favourite places to (Christmas) shop til’ you drop. The market features over 70 handmade vendors/curators (offering everything from art and jewelry to home décor and tasty treats), as well as live entertainment, on-site food trucks and prizes.
When: November 16th & 17th, 2019
St. Albert Indoor Christmas Market
St. Albert’s Christmas Market is back for yet another season of great food, good fun and, of course, shopping! This year’s market will offer the homemade wares of over 75 vendors, every Saturday, starting November 23rd.
When: November 23rd – December 21st, 2019
Dickens Fest
Now in its second year, Dickens Fest features a wide variety of Christmas-themed events, spanning over 11 days. Head to the Citadel Theatre to see the Lighting of the Lee Pavilion, shop the Christmas Market or partake in a little Christmas Tea, Dinner, or both!

Butterdome Craft Sale
The Butterdome Craft Sale has delighted Christmas shoppers for nearly 30 years. Recognized as “Alberta’s favourite -and largest- craft sale”, marketgoers can take in the works of 280+ vendors from all over Canada. From A-Z, the Butterdome Craft Sale has a little something for everyone.
When: November 28th – December 1st, 2019
Festival of Trees
Yet another Edmonton Christmas classic, the Festival of Trees is considered YEG’s “signature kick-off to the holiday season.” A U of A Hospital Foundation initiative, the festival seeks to raise money for osseointegration through a variety of events, including the 200+ Christmas tree display, a children’s Christmas lane, Santa’s breakfast, soiree, gala and more.
When: November 28th – December 1st, 2019
Christmas Glow
Christmas Glow is a one-of-a-kind holiday experience featuring festive-themed landmarks from six different countries as well as food, drink, entertainment and a vendor market. Marvel at the millions of beautiful lights as you make your way around the world, visiting Big Ben, the Eiffel Tower and the amazing sights of China, India, Holland and Mexico.
When: November 28th – January 4th, 2019
Zoominescence Festival of Light
Celebrate the season with the animals of the Edmonton Valley Zoo! Holiday with the hippos or get festive with the flamingoes as you enjoy the many artistic light installations scattered throughout. Then, finish your evening with a hot cup of cocoa and a fun family skate!
When: Every weekend throughout December, December 26th
The Canadian Pacific Holiday Train
Every year, the CP Holiday Train travels from coast to coast, on a mission to fight hunger in Canada. Since its maiden Christmas voyage back in 1999, the train has collected nearly 16 million dollars and 4.5 million pounds of food for the cause. Although it won’t be coming directly to YEG this year, Edmontonians can visit the train in the neighbouring communities of Camrose, Wetaskiwin and Ponoka.

Luminaria
“Fire light. Star light. Snow light. Thousands of candles, millions of stars, and you”. Held at the University of Alberta Botanic Gardens, Luminaria is a dazzling display of beautiful garden scenery, candle-lit pathways, ice-sculptures and winter displays. Visitors here can cozy up to the bonfire with a cup of warm apple cider, make a wish on the Wish-Upon-A-Star Tree, enjoy festive tunes from the strolling capella singers and much more.
When: December 6th – December 8th, 2019
Santa Shuffle Fun Run and Elf Walk
A great event for a great cause, the annual Santa Shuffle Fun Run and Elf Walk seeks to raise funds for Canada’s Salvation Army. Suitable for all ages and abilities, the initiative features both a 5km Fun-Run as well as a 1km Elf Walk. Don’t forget to wear your kooky-est Christmas garb on the big day!
When: Saturday, December 7th, 2019
Candy Cane Lane
Established in 1968, Candy Cane Lane is, in short, a community dedicated to spreading holiday cheer with the help of their awe-inspiring Christmas displays. Made possible through the hard work of volunteers, residents and local businesses, this highly celebrated event has raised hundreds of thousands of kilograms in donations for the Edmonton food bank over the years.
When: December 12th, 2019 – January 1st, 2020
Edmonton Singing Christmas Tree (FINAL EVENT)
This year marks the end of an era with the 50th and final performance of the Edmonton Singing Christmas Tree. Now is your last opportunity to enjoy the 35-foot tree comprised of 150 choir members (singing all the classics) in addition to dancers, performers and more.
